Mission and Objectives

Our Story:
International Asthma Services Global Cardiology Initiatives, Inc. dba Saahns was started by Dr. P.K. Vedanthan MD of Fort Collins, Colorado USA in 1987. Dr. Vedanthan (Dr. PK) is an American board certified allergy and asthma specialist settled in Colorado since 1974. Dr. PK was highly influenced by his visits to his native land of India of the urgent need to help the huge number of 'needy' asthmatics.

Our Mission:
IAS is dedicated:

To improve the over all care of the asthma patients around the globe
To educate patients, their families as well as motivated physicians
To facilitate technology transfer. IAS is active in India, Kenya,Myanmar, Fiji, Philippines, Mauritius, Argentina, as well as USA.

Our Objectives:
Global Chest Initiatives and International Asthma Services both provide charitable services to patients suffering from asthma and allergies in different locations around the world by:
1. Organizing asthma awareness camps;
2. Building free charitable clinics;
3. Arranging for the transfer of medical equipment across continents; and,
4. Expanding post-MD educational programs in the fields of allergy, asthma and immunology.

Our Commitment

Bronchial asthma is a worldwide problem affecting millions of individuals, both adults and children. It is the most common cause of chronic childhood disease and causes a very high degree of morbidity, loss of man-hours and school hours, and loss of millions of dollars as a whole. Several thousands of people die due to asthma each year, and the morbidity due to asthma worldwide has been steadily increasing for the past decade. There are several reasons for this rise in mortality.
